YMCA International
As a part of the World Alliance of YMCAs, the YMCA Yarmouth has been involved in supporting overseas projects in a variety of ways to assist countries in need across the globe.
Our current alliance is in support of the YMCA Honduras where, along with 12 other YMCAs and YMCA-YWCAs from the four Atlantic Provinces, we are working to ensure that the rights of young people in Honduras are protected.
Honduras Partnership
As a part of the Peace Week Celebrations in November 2007, representatives from the Honduras YMCA visited the YMCAs of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland in order to sign a partnership accord. The Atlantic YMCAs agreed to provide financial support to the Honduras YMCA and seek opportunities for exchange visits. The Honduras YMCA agreed to help the Atlantic associations develop a regional youth program. With assistance from the Canada International Development Agency, combined contributions from each YMCA currently support this project.
This project is undertaken with the financial support of the Government of Canada through the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).
