Cardio Abs: A mix of cardio & abwork to fight fat & tone the abdominals. Mondays 9:30 - 10:30. Teacher is Barbara Firth
Cardio Core & Abs: A mix of core exercises and cardio to tone & sculpt the abdominals. Mondays 12:10 - 12:45 pm. Teacher is Cindy Robicheau.
Cardio Mix: A mix of cardio and bodytoning for intermediate to advanced. Mondays 5:15 - 6:15. Teacher is Renette.
Interval Fitness: A
high-intensity workout based on the crossfit workout program. Wednesdays 9:30 am - 10:30 am. Fitness Center. Multi-level. Instructor:
Barbara Firth.
Masters Swimming – Wednesdays 5:00
– 5:45 pm (19 years +). Also available are a variety of lane
swim times – please check under Aquatics for pool schedule.
Plyometrics: Explosive jumping cardio routine proven to improve athletic performance.
Wednesdays 12:10 - 12:45 with Cindy
Saturdays 10:30 - 11:30 with Bill
Power 45: Strength training
circuit class in the Fitness Center. No experience necessary but would
be helpful if you make an appointment with a trainer to learn to use
the Keizer machines before attending a class. Multi-level. Fitness
Center. Monday, Wedesday, Friday 10:00 – 10:45 am. Friday
1:30 pm. Instructors: Donna Newell/Bill McLure.
Shoulders & Arms: A combination of pressing, curling & fly movements. Tuesdays 5:15 - 6:15 pm with Bill MacLure, and Thursdays 12:10 - 12:45 with Amanda Maillet.
Step Express: A fast-paced
step class to fit into your noon hour. Multi-level (some experience
with step moves are an asset – please feel free to contact a
trainer to learn the basic step moves). Mondays, Wednesday & Fridays
12:10 – 12:45 p.m. Instructors: Amanda Maillet, Bill McLure.
Stretch Pilates: Pilates-based mat exercises mixed with light yoga poses and stretching exercises. Tuesdays and Fridays 9:30 - 10:30 am. Teacher Barbara Firth .
The 5 Rythyms: A free-flow dance-based low-impact workout. Thursdays 10:00 - 11:00 am. Teacher is Donna Newell
X @ Y Workouts: Inspired by the P90X workouts, these classes are held throughout the week, so you can work every body part.
Yoga: A great workout for body, mind & soul. Tuesdays & Fridays 12:10 - 12:45pm. Teacher Cindy Robicheau.

Facility
General Information:
Don’t know where to begin? YMCA of Yarmouth has 4,000 square
feet allocated to specialized fitness equipment to meet the needs of
participants of all levels. Our goal is to motivate and encourage our
members to adopt a healthy lifestyle. Whether you are just getting
started or want to maintain a high level of fitness we offer a variety
of programs tailored to meet your specific needs. Let the YMCA help you

Cardio machines.
We recognize that cardio exercise is an important part of any workout
program. Our fitness centre offers everything you need for a great
cardio workout and includes:
- Treadmills
- Cross-trainers
- Rowers
- Bikes
- Arc-trainers
- Steppers
Strength Training
- Keizer (air-assisted strength training
machines that are very easy to use) located in the Nate Bain Wellness
Center
- Large variety of machines and free weights
suitable for all fitness levels
Aerobic Studio
The Aerobic Studio has a hard wood floating floor with mirrors on 3
sides. Many fitness classes are held in the Aerobic Studio, including
Aerobics, Step, Tai Chi, Body Toning, Core Connect, Boot Camp, and
Cardio Kick. Located on the lower floor of the main YMCA building.
Gymnasium
Large open gym located just past the fitness center suitable for
basketball, volleyball, soccer, floor hockey, group games, etc.
Locker rooms
Adult locker rooms located in the lower portion of the building,
showers, sauna, vanity area and toilets. Adults can use the upstairs
locker rooms.
Pool/Hot Tub
4 lane – 25 yard swimming pool, open for lane swimming, swim
lessons (for adults and children both private and group), family swims.
Please check under Aquatics for pool schedule. Hot Tub available during
open swim times in pool area.
Racquetball Court
Whether you are a beginner or a power player,
take to the court for a fast moving game of racquetball. Lessons are
available for beginners by appointment. Court must be booked in advance.
Fitness Programs
Tai Chi (Yang Style)
A moving form of yoga and meditation consisting of a number of
‘sets’ in a sequence. Many benefits including blood
circulation, lower blood pressure, relieves arthritis pain, increases
flexibilty of the joints, prevents bone fatigue, improves balance,
coordination, improves mental and physical concentration and focus,
helps prevent chronic diseases, strengthens and improves the
body’s immune system. Can be practiced in a chair. Everyone
can benefit from this practice at any level. If you are interested,
please contact Cindy Robicheau, Fitness Director. Classes will be
organized on demand.

Dance

Fitness Assessment
Canadian Standarized Test of Fitness aimed at
the beginner to the moderately fit adult (although anyone can benefit
from this assessment). Measurements include: Body Mass Index (BMI), %
Body Fat, Body Composition, Aerobic Fitness, Muscular Strength,
Muscular Endurance, Flexibility, Vertical Jump and Leg Power. This
assessment is conducted in a private setting, approximately 90 minutes
by appointment with Cindy Robicheau (Nickerson) Certified Personal
Trainer, YMCA Master Trainer. Members: $30, Non-Members: $60
Rules of Fitness Center
- No one under the age of 13 years
- 13 – 16 years must have a YMCA
weight training course
- No wet shoes or black marking soles
- No food or drinks (water only)
- Treat others and machines with respect or you
may be asked to leave
- Sign up for cardio equipment and respect time
limits
- Return all weights after use
- DO NOT put weights on benches
- No Jeans – workout clothing only
(including sneakers)
- No offensive language
Leadership Programs
YMCA Fitness Leadership programs for Group
Fitness and Individual Conditioning are available Free for individuals
who are committed to teaching YMCA fitness programs at YMCA Yarmouth. A
very rewarding volunteer position that encourages fitness and a healthy
lifestyle in our community. Individuals who are interested in this
course, please contact Cindy Robicheau. This course is usually offered
once/year (winter) as required to train instructors.
New Member Information
- Fitness Center orientation for new members
(included in your membership). Learn to properly use the strength
training and cardio machines. By appointment only – at front
desk. Male and female trainers available, daytime or evening
appointments available.
