What does a membership to the YMCA Yarmouth include?
Membership includes full facility usage, including the pool, hot tub, fitness center, group fitness classes, and use of the gymnasium and racquetball courts. Adult members also have use of the saunas. All members receive reduced fees on specialty classes and programs that are offered.
Can I cancel my membership at anytime?
You may cancel your membership at any time. Annual memberships are pro-rated and a $25 processing fee is deducted. Twenty days notice is required to cancel both annual and continuous memberships.
My husband and I want to join, our 20 year old son goes to university but lives with us when he is not in school. Can he be included in a family membership?
Yes, any dependant child whom resides in the same household, while home from attending school full-time, may be included in a family membership. Proof of full-time enrollment is required.
Are lockers included in the membership fee?
No, lockers are however available for rent to people with an annual or continuous membership.
I just want membership to the pool, how much is that?
Our membership includes access to everything in the building. There is no special rate for pool only.
Is the pool heated?
Yes, the pool is heated. The water temperature on average is between 81-85 degrees.
Why do we have to wear bathing caps in the pool?
We must wear bathing caps in the pool because loose hair can clog the water filtration system. Babies are also required to wear bathing caps.
Do I need to sign up for the cardio machines?
Yes, you must sign up to use the treadmills, cross trainers and arc trainers there is a sign-up sheet located on the wall as you enter the fitness centre. You may sign up for a maximum of 30 minutes on each piece of equipment at one time.
How old do I have to be to work out in the fitness centre with weights or on the cardio equipment?
You must be at least 13 years of age. Those between the ages of 13 to 16 must first have an introduction to the weight and cardio machines. This is booked by appointment and is offered to members only.
May I work out in the Wellness Centre when a circuit class is taking place?
Generally no, however the instructor may allow it depending on the size of the class.
Are their rooms available for party rentals or other group rentals?
Yes, we offer both pool and gymnasium party rentals. We also have two large meeting rooms available for rent.
If I go out of town can I visit other YMCAs?
You are welcome to visit YMCAs across the country. Policies and prices vary according to each YMCA in different cities. When inquiring about facilities and visitation, please have current membership card with you.
